Education is the great equalizer.
“Education, then, beyond all other divides of human origin, is a great equalizer of conditions of men—the balance wheel of the social machinery.” – Horace Mann (1848)
Whether we will allow education to be a wedge that widens inequality or whether we will use its power to create opportunity for all, is up to us. Providing knowledge and understanding of the marine world to citizens, globally, allows for a better understanding of what exists and how to keep it going for future generations.
At Clear Currents, we believe that education focusing on the conservation and understanding of our marine environments is important. Our goal is to provide information to anyone that would like to learn more. We will be starting with identifying and funding community members that are actively educating others in the areas of marine conservation and sciences.
Think about it, how many voices have been overlooked, ignored and silenced over the years. Imagine what types of advancements and achievements our world has lost out on because of our actions of the past. With Clear Currents, we are evening the playing field, to seek out and listen to the voices that have typically not been heard so that we can learn more and achieve more. Working together, with various groups, we can learn more together and strive for that balance of conservation and acceptable use practice of marine resources.
